Kruidvat has launched a pilot with same-day delivery in The Hague. This new service, Kruidvat Vandaag in Huis, is provided in cooperation with bicycle couriers from Packaly. Customers in the delivery area , can use this new option of home delivery. If they place an order before 3 p.m., the products ordered will be delivered the same day. In time, orders will be delivered within two hours at the latest. If the pilot in The Hague is successful, it will be rolled out further to other cities in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Kruidvat Vandaag in Huis is part of Kruidvat's online and offline strategy, in which the physical stores and the online channel further strengthen each other. "We want to be where our customers are, tailored to their needs at that moment," said Mr. B., Kruidvat's CEO. "Offline and online are not separate in this respect but are complementary and reinforce each other. This pilot is a great addition to respond even better to the needs of the moment," explains Roland van den Berg, director of e-Commerce at Kruidvat. "Young adults and families with young children are already accustomed to integrating fast online services within their lifestyles and want products delivered quickly to their homes with a simple push of a button. This also applies to older customers who are less mobile and want certain care products delivered quickly. By delivering orders the same day at home, we improve our service."
A sustainable delivery
For Kruidvat Vandaag in Huis, the drugstore is partnering with Packaly, a sustainable same-day delivery courier service from store to front door. With Packaly, orders from five Kruidvat stores in The Hague will be delivered home by bike, Co2 neutral. In the delivery options, customers can choose same-day delivery. After the checkout process, in addition to the order confirmation, a track & trace code is sent with information about the shipment. The nearest store collects the products, and the Packaly courier picks up the package from the store and delivers it to the customer in the evening.
Rollout to other parts of the Netherlands
In time, Kruidvat wants to work with even shorter delivery windows. Van den Berg: "We will first work towards two hours and eventually even one hour. This will further improve the quality and speed of our service." The experiences gained from the pilot in The Hague will be used to optimize our delivery option further and eventually roll it out in other regions.
